Before moving off, what are three things you must do?
- Use mirrors to assess how actions will effect traffic
- Look around for a final check
- Signal if necessary
Before overtaking what should you ensure?
That there is clear view of the road ahead (no bends/dips)
What can you do to make sure other cars know that you are there?
Switch on lights if it gets too dark
Use horn where you cant be seen
What should you ensure when you’re turning right into a dual carriageway?
That the central reservation is wide enough for your vehicle
What should you do when following a large vehicle?
Stay well back. if you can’t see their mirrors, they cant see you.
Who are three more vulnerable road users?
- Pedestrians
- Cyclists
- Motorcyclists
If you feel sleepy in the motorway, what should you do?
Don’t drive continously for more than two hours.
Ensure you have a fresh supply of air
If you feel tired, leave at the next exit and have a short nap.
Is it ok to use a hands free phone whilst driving?
It can still distract you! Wait and find a safe place to stop.
What do yellow lines across the road mean?
Reduce your speed
What are blind spots?
Areas you cant be seen using normal forward vision or mirrors.
What should you do before making a u-turn?
Look over your shoulder for a final check
