Why is Happisburgh so vulnerable?

A

Cliffs are made from soft sand on top of clay (12000yrs old), long fetch in North Sea- powerful waves and increases the rate of erosion, narrow beaches offer little protections- caused by Terminal Groyne Syndrome, sea level rise and increasing storm frequency

What coastal management is being used in Happisburgh?

A

Revetment, Groynes and breakwater were constructed in 1950s but have not been updated since 1995. It would take an estimate to £15 million to close the gap in the sea defences and protect Happisburgh
