- Puts a person on defensive, making him strive to justify himself
- wounds their precious pride
- Hurts their server of importance

Criticism from superiors
Flattery will do more harm than good. What’s the dif b/w flattery and appreciation?
Flattery = insincere. Cheap praise. Telling the other person what one thinks of himself
Appreciation = sincere. Praise coming from the heart
How can I arouse the other person in eager?
Get the other person’s point of view and see things from that angle as well as my own.
