Basic half guard top
- aim for a crossface supported by a lapel grip.
- your untrapped leg should be angled perpedicular to his body and you should be up on the ball of your foot.
- You need to free your trapped knee by:
a) walking your trapped foot up to his bum and using your free arm to push his trapping leg down.
b) bringing your trapping leg on an angle, simelar to your free leg. Tripod with your free knee on his hip, shake or peel off his trapping leg. - You can then pass to the left or right.
Forcing halg guard
From opp sitting.
1. Get a collar grip and push his head back to lighten his legs, grab his pant leg and circle away from that leg. comedown into a knee cut so that your knee is pinning his thigh to the floor, join your elbow to knee and keep your shoulder into his knee to prevent knee shield. Place the knee of your other leg into his hip and then put your right elbow on the floor.
For being in DLR
Free your collar from his grip, turn foot out and straighten to remove his hook, pressure in and grab his collar, clear his other foot of your hip and get into HQ, (you may need to remove the reverse DLR hook) Fall to your left side to get into a knee slice position.
From Opp on back with no connection.
1. apporach his foot line, if he reaches out with his feet it will be easy to swat them away. If he does nothing, do a Nog Toreada, (keep you legs back and upper body forward, arms in, grab hip and leg, step around with left leg, then right leg, step back with right leg do it is between his legs, push his bottem knee back between your legs)
Clearing the knee shield
Option one
1. Punch your fist through between his legs, grab his collar with your left hand, tripod up, and bring your trapped knee to your free foot. Either walk his knees back if you can, or step over to the other side.
Optiion 2
, garb a grip acroos his body, Sit out facing his feet, so his shoulders are on the mat, keep your feet angled perpedicular to his body.
- walk across his body so your forhead touches the mat, keeping your weight on him. use your free hand to free your knee
For high knee shield,
base on your free leg, cup under his bottem knee, drive up pushing him into an HQ, reset your arm inside his legs, come back down to a knee cut
Head and Arm pass
- Get lapel under hook
- As opp tries to frame against you, put you head under his elbow and use it to push his arm up, then put your head on the floor and base with your free hand
- Walk acroos your opponants body and put your knee down to the floor
4.Tripod and use your free leg to peel his legs off you - put your right foot on his hip and slide into mount
How to secure side control after you have passed to his near side
1, Go into a semi sit out to prevent him re gaurding
2. walk back into his leg to push them away from you,
3. switch hips so you are in a strong side control
When opp is blocking your left hand stopping you from completing cross face
- get the underhook and cup his shoulder.
- Swim you head inside and put it on the floor next to his face (on your left side) + base wide with your free hand.
- Take your left leg slightly off the mat and pinch your knee into his hip to prevent his elbow escape
- Tripod up and use the thumb of your left hand to push against his legs to free your knee - put your knee down on the mat of his near side.
5, kick his legs away to free your trapped foot, , Lift his right arm and come into a semi sit out - lift his head and come into a good side control
When you can’t get the farside underhook because he is being tight
- put your head on his far shoulder and push his back towards the mat to neutralize that underhook
- Right arm goes down his body and grips near his lower back, keeping his underhook pressed into his body
- Put your left hand inside his right arm pit and establish an unerhook
- Walk cross his body to deepend the under hook and base with your right arm, put your head on the mat, cup behind his shoulder with your left hand
- Bring your left knee into his hip to prevent a regaud, but keep your hips of the floor
- Walk yourself further across his body so that his knees are facing away from you, use your right hand to push his legs away freeing your knee.
- Tipod and put your left knee on the floor on the far side of his body
- free your foot and then lift up his right arm ,slide into a semi sit out, Edge your right leg up his body and pull his arm up, when it is sperated enough from his body slide into side control.
Double under hook version of head post
Do the previous move up untill you get you knee on the floor.
1. obtain a near side under hook, spreading your elbows wide
2. Once your free your leg, knee slide over his body, release the near side under hook for a cross face
3. spider walk his far arm up above his shoudler line and slide into mount
