Method of Hajj?

7th Zil hajj

8th zill hajj
- purification + Ihram
- enter meeqat
- recitation of Talbiah
- masjid al haraam: tawaf qudoom (anticlockwise circumambulation x7)
- night at Mina
9th Zil hajj
- leave for Arafat
- Jabal al Rahma & waquf (climax of hajj)
- zuhr and asr together
- hajj sermon
- leave for Muzdalifah (night worship + 49 pebbles for ramy)
10th Zil hajj
-mina
-Talbiyah is stopped before the stoning of jammarat ul aqba
-eid ul azha (sacrifice & head shaving)
+“The sacrificial camels we have made for you as among the symbols of Allah: in them is much good for you. Then pronounce the name of Allah over them as they are lined up for sacrifice. When they are down on their sides after slaughter, eat from them and feed others”
-Obligatory tawaaf (Tawaaf ifdaha/ziaara)
-sayi between Safa and Marwa hills x7
+“behold! Safa and Marwa are among the symbols of Allah. So those who visit the house in the season or at other times should compass them round”
11-12 Zil hajj
- ramy
- 12th day final tawaaf (wida)
Method of Umrah?
-visiting kaabah, performing tawaaf and sayi
1- best to take a bath at meeqat 2- men change into ihraam & both men and women make niyat -Talbiyah -enter masjid al-haram with right foot 3- arrival at Kaaba -stop talbiyyah -touch black stone + "Allahu Akbar" 4- tawaaf x7 -maqam Ibrahim with verse: \+"and take you (people) the Maqam (place) of Ibrahim as a place of worship" -two rakats -touch stone 5- go to safa and recite: \+'verily Safa and Marwa are among the symbols of Allah" -seven circuits, ending at Marwa 6- cutting/shaving hair
differences between Umrah and Hajj?
- hajj is a pillar & obligatory, umrah is not
- umrah is shorter
- umrah at any time of the year, hajj only during 7th to 12 Zil Hajj
- Hajj has wuquf at Arafat (most imp) umrah doesn’t
- no night at Muzdalifah or combining maghrib & isha in umrah
- Talbiyah is topped earlier in umrah
- no rami or stay at min ain umrah
- no sacrifice in umrah
Benefits of pilgrimage?
-Introduction as pillar & obligation
“pilgrimage is thereto a duty man owes to Allah- if they can afford the journey”
1- worship that covers all aspects, sacrifice of wealth, time, comfort, and energy for Allah
2- forgiveness of sins
+Prophet(SAW):
“an accepted pilgrimage has no reward except paradise”
“the person who came on pilgrimage, to the house of Allah and neither committed an incident of sexual acts nor indulged in any disobedience of Allah will return home as pure of sin as they day his mother bore him”
-Allah does not care for those who die without Hajj when they could afford it
+” he who is not prevented from performing Hajj by an obvious necessity a tyrannical ruler, a disease which confines him at home and dies without having performed the pilgrimage may die if they wish to be a jew or Christian”
3- brotherhood, unity and equality + humility
4- spiritual experience and closeness to Allah
5-trading is allowed
+“it is no crime in you if you seek of the bounty of your Lord (during pilgrimage)”
6- economic benefit as Muslims can discuss beneficial strategies to benefit Muslims
7- Muslim leaders & people can discuss common issues and formulate a common policy
Obligation/exemption of hajj?
-obligatory once for every sane adult Muslim who can afford the journey
+“pilgrimage is a duty thereto men owe to Allah- those who can afford the journey”
-those who have money to go and return
+” and make provision with you for the journey”
-those who are physically capable of the journey (not old, weak, and sick)
-only if the journey is safe (not during times of war, pandemics or robberies)
-women cannot go without a mahram
+“women should not travel except with a mahram and no man may visit her except in the presence of a mahram”
a man stood up and said ‘O Allah’s apostle I intend to go with an army and my wife wants to perform hajj” The Prophet(SAW) said, “go along with he to hajj”
prohibitions of ihram?
- no killing
- no perfume
- no damaging plants
- no dishonesty, abusive or foul language
- to hunt or kill an animal that is not a danger
- no sexual relations
- no covering face & hands for women, no covering head for men
- cutting hair or nails
- no shoes over ankles
