What are the main causes of iron deficiency anaemia?

A

EXCESSIVE BLOOD LOSS- Menorrhagia, NSAIDs, GI carcinomas, post-partum haemorrhage, IBD, bleeding oesophageal varices, GORD, oesophagitis.

FAILURE OF IRON ABSORPTION- tetracyclines, quinolones, antacids, PPIs, malabsorption conditions, H.Pylori colonisation.
