Hadith 20["look at hearts and deeds."] Flashcards

1
Q

What’s the teaching?

A
  • This Hadith teaches that Allah does not judge people by their wealth, status, or appearance but by their righteousness.
  • A true believer should not take pride in worldly possessions, as the only connection with Allah is through piety.
  • Righteousness itself is a blessing from Allah, for which one must be grateful.
  • Moreover, all actions without sincerity are meaningless, as Allah judges deeds based on intentions.
  • On the Day of Judgment, both hidden intentions and outward actions will be evaluated. The Prophet (PBUH) said, “Every action is based on the intention (behind it), and everyone shall have what he intended.”

Q

What’s the action?

A
  • Muslims can practice this Hadith by ensuring sincerity in every action.
  • Charity, for example, should be given with the intention of improving lives, not for personal recognition.
  • Teaching skills to others to help them become self-sufficient is also an act of sincerity.
  • Purity of heart and good intentions should guide all actions.
  • Hazrat Bilal was appointed the first muezzin of Islam due to his faith, not status. Likewise, Muslims today should act with sincerity, avoiding false praise or flattery for personal gain.
  • True success lies in genuine intentions and righteous deeds, seeking Allah’s pleasure rather than worldly benefits.
