5 characteristics
Skill variety - is the job variety or repetitive
Task identity - is there a clear focus to the job
Task significance- does the job have a design for employees to know the importance and significance to the organisation
Autonomy- does the job allow independence for the worker, increases responsibility and quality
Feedback - does job provide workers with feedback. Good as it will show workers how well they are performing and how they can improve.

Hackman said individuals are different. If there is a worker who’s responsive to the characteristics, there will be greater benefit. Not so with someone who doesn’t respond
