Creating the ideal learning environment
what are the stages of the Habit Loop?
Cue -> Routine -> Reward.
What methods are best for beginners?
Start small, and remember that consistency is the most important factor. 10 minutes everyday for a week is better than a cram session one day out of the week.
Why should you pair habits?
Because it’s easy to form a new habit this way. Think of it as piggy backing off of the already established nueropathway. An example would be somethings like, “I’ll study my flashcards after I get my coffee.”
What are visual cues?
Visual cues are a way of keeping your habits in view. For me, it’s keeping my journal open all the time.
What’s the best learning environment?
- Distraction free if possible
- Clean and decluttered
- Your own designated learning space.
- Good lighting.
- Good posture.
What about breaks?
Be sure to take breaks occasionally. Good break options are closing your eyes, going for a walk, and yoga. Breaks help the brain consolidate material and helps the learner refocus.
