What is vaginal vault prolapse
inversion of vagina into vaginal canl, MC s/p hysterectomy
1/1 vs 2/2 vs 3/3 vs 4/4 prolapse
1/1: in upper 2/3 of vagina
2/2 down to introitus
3/3 partially protrudes outside vagina
4/4 entire structure outside vagina
what is the etiology of prolapse
chroinic inc abd pressure (coughing, constipation, heavy lifting, tumors) and pelvic floor weakness (intrinsic weakness, birth trauma, atrophy with aging)
Sx prolapse
pelvic pressure/pain
dyspareunia
bowel or bladder dysfucntion
urinary incontienence
what are non-surgical treatement options for prolapse?
kegels, pessaries, E replacement
