Gummy Bear Experiment Flashcards
Permeable
Allowing something to pass through it.
Membrane
A very thin boundary that holds something in.
Osmosis
When the water goes through a semipermeable membrane and makes a concentrated solution evenly distributed.
Concentration
When the solution has a large amount of solute.
Diffusion
When something spreads out into an area, an example is when somebody farts, the air diffuses and goes around the room.
Transport
Something that helps move something else.
Active Transport
When something is being carried around
Passive Transport
Transport that is non stop always carrying something without being told to.
Polymer
A substance that has a certain amount of a unit all bonded together.
Matrix
Things that have gems, crystal or minerals embedded in them. For example jelly wobbles, but doesn’t collapse because the matrix I like a complex cage.
Selectively Permeable
Also known as semipermeable, it is when something only allows certain things to pass through them.
Selectively Permeable Membrane
A membrane that only allows certain things to pass.
