grouped data and distribution Flashcards
1
Q
histograms
A
graph that displays frequency of different outcomes within a sample
2
Q
how do you find the estimated mean in grouped data?
A
- take the midpoint (e.g 51-55= 53)
- times that by the frequency
- repeat for each group
- divide total by the number of observations
3
Q
normal distribution
A
bell shaped curve, helps predict probability
sometimes occurs in naturally occruing phenonena, mostly uncommon
4
Q
skew
A
one way distribution, deviates from normal
5
Q
positive skew
A
height on left side
mean more than median
6
Q
negtive skew
A
height on right
meadian more than mean
