Grounded theory Flashcards
1
Q
What is grounded theory?
A
IT IS NOT A THEORY
It’s a method to build theories
2
Q
Approach?
A
- Collect data
- Immediately start analysing data
- Formulate theories on analysis
- Repeat above and refine the theory
- Repeat all above until saturation is reached
3
Q
What is saturation?
A
When all new data can be fitted into existing theory without modifying it.
4
Q
What is theoretical sampling?
A
Deliberate choice of where to collect data
5
Q
What are the disadvantages of grounded theory?
A
- Complex
- Time consuming
- Subjective with theoretical sampling
- Not repeatable or generalisable.
