Location, quantification, distribution, size, shape, color, consistency, texture, odor
What does Focal mean?
Single
What does Multifocal mean?
multiple, discrete lesions separated by unaffected parenchyma
What does Multifocal to coalescing mean?
the multifocal lesions occasionally merge
What does Generalized mean?
numerous foci scattered relatively evenly throughout the entire organ.
What does Milliary mean
Very numerous small multiple foci
What does locally extensive mean?
lesion is convergent and involves large percentage of the tissue
what does diffuse mean?
the entire organ is involved.
What does botryoid mean?
multiple grape like clusters
what does pedunculated mean ?
narrow stalk like base
what does sessile mean?
Broad base of attachment
What does white discoloration mean?
Leukocytic infiltrate, connective tissue deposition (collagen), fibrosis (scars), necrosis ( in some cases) presence of fat inflitrate
What does yellow discoloration mean?
Jaundice due to hemolysis, liver DZ, bile duct obstruction, psuedoicterus due to high ingestion of beta carotene and in horses due to anorexia, dehydration, young animal.
What does Black Discoloration mean?
melanin, old hemorrhage (melena), pusedomelanosis (this is a post mortem production of hydrogen sulfide)
What is a MDx
Morphologic diagnosis
interpretation all of the findings observed and described . Example: Abdominal cavity: severe, chronic, multifocal, pyogranulomatous polyserositis and abdominal effusion
