the heart
what are the lines that separte the lungs into lobes
the horizontal fissure
and oblique fissure
how does the right lung differ from the left?
The right lung has a superior, middle and inferior lobe.
Where as the left lung only has the superior and inferior lobe.
what type of fluid is found bewteen the visceral pleura and perital pleura?
the sirus fluid and its function is to reduce friction caused by the heart inflating and deflating.
where do the pleura membrane join?
The pleura membrane join at the hilum.
Of the 12 ribs where is the inferior lobe?
the inferior lobe is found at rib 8
whats the difference in the right hilum and left hilium?
In the right hilium the pulmanary artery is anterior to the bronchus and the pulmanary vein is inferior.
The pulmonary vein remains remain inferior in the left but the pulmanary artery is superior.
what is the mediastinum split up into?
the mediastinum is split into the superior and inferior.
where is the postition of the superior mediastinum?
The superior is at the sternal join, second sternal cartilage and T4/T5.
whats are the parts of the inferior mediastinum?
Anterior -Between the sternum and pericardium
Middle- The heart is found in this region
prosterior - Between the paricardium and thoracic vertabrae
What are the contents of the superior mediastinum?
The aortic arch and its branches
