location (modern-day countries)
It is located in what we know know as Greece, in Southern Europe.
Topography (geographic features - mountains, rivers, oceans, ect.)
Its mostly mountains, with the Pindus range running down the center. It’s also surrounded by the Aegean, Ionian, and Mediterranean Seas.
government structure
its known for pioneering democracy, especially in Athens. It also had oligarchies, like Sparta, and monarchies earlier on.
people (social classes, jobs, ect.)
Society was divided into free citizens, metics (foreigners living in Greece), and slaves. Free citizens could be farmers, artisans, or soldiers, and women were often tasked with domestic work.
religion
They practiced a polytheistic religion, worshipping a pantheon of gods like Zeus, Athena, and Apollo.
major accomplishments
They pioneered democracy, made huge strides in philosophy with thinkers like Socrates and Plato, developed the Olympic Games, and made significant contributes to art, architecture, and science.
important figures
They had many influential figures, like philosophers like Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle, leaders like Alexander the Great and Pericles. and playwrights like like Sophocles and Euripides.
military conflicts
The Persian Wars, including the famous battle of Thermopylae, and the Peloponnesian War between Athens and Sparta come to mind.
other (anything else of importance)
They were pioneers in the field of medicine with Hippocrates, made strides in mathematics with Pythagoras, and even their language has had a huge impact on our own.
