In the north of the peloponnese close to the narrow strip of land that joins the peninsula to the rest of greece. Wines must be made from Agiorgitiko.
Talk about the vineyards in Nemea PDO?
Vineyards are spread over a range of altitudes from 230-900 meters. Best fruit comes from vineyards that are in the middle of this range. Fruit from hotter lower slopes tends to be very jammy.
Describe the best wines from Nemea PDO
- Come from the mid range altitude vineyards.
- Deep ruby colour with high level of smooth tannins.
- low to moderate acidity with flavours of red fruits and spice
How are vineyards grown in Santorini?
The permanent wood is trained very low into a basket shape and the fruit grows on the inside.
Describe the wines from Santorini PDO.
- Primarily made from the Assyriko grape
- Dry wines display perfumed aromas and concentrated flavours of ripe citrus and stone fruit balanced by naturally high acidity.
- Sweet wines are known as Visanto. late harvested grapes are left to sun dry fro 14 days then aged in oakm barrels for a minimum of 2 years. Sweet, high acidity with oxidative notes of caramel and nuts.
