Why is Niagara Peninsula good for growing?
Niagara Peninsula is on the south-western corner of Lake Ontario. Lake cools down and heats up more slowly than surrounding land, extends the growing season in Autumn allowing greapes to ripen fully and delays budburst in the sprin.

Vintners Quality Alliance - must be made from 100% of grapes grown in that province and 100% Vitis Vinfera

Riesling - fresh fruity dry and off dry. Ice wine.
Vidal - Ice wine
Chardonnay - pure fruit and restrained fruit
Cab Franc - made single or bordeaux blend with merlot/cab
pinot noir - small but high quality
Why is Vidal so good for ice wine?
It is very hardy but it has little character. Not as aromatic as riesling.

Discuss the topgraphy of the appelltion of Okanagan Valley.
Lies in the valley between two mountain ranges in a rain shadow which results in very low average rainfall and semi-desert environment. Lot day light hours which prolongs photosynthesis and aids in ripening. Large glacial lakes to help moderate temperatures and enabling sucessful white grapes in north and red in south.
What are the most planted varieties in Okanagan Valley?
Merlot, Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and Chardonnay.
Ice wine from Riesling and Vidal.
