A

A

Follow noun they relate to and provide information about that noun.
- Example: ‘The storm that blew the tree down’, ‘The dog which ate the food’

Define a Pronoun.

A
  • A word which stands in place of a noun or noun phrase (usually to avoid repetition of the noun)

Define Subject + Object

A
  • Subject- normally performs the action of the sentence or clause + can be a single word/phrase.
  • Object- normally receives action + comes after verb
  • Pronouns used as the subject of the sentence tend to come in front of the verb (e.g. Sally loves Alfie)
  • Pronouns appearing as the object of the verb’s action tend to come after the verb (e.g. ‘She loves him’)
