Ceftriaxone (intramuscular) OR cefixime (oral)
AND (for possible chlamydia co-infection)
Doxycyline OR erythromycin (pregnancy)
Expedited partner therapy; tetracycline drops in eyes of newborns

Treatment for Neisseria meningitidis?
A
3rd gen. cephalosporin (ceftriaxone)

Initial treatment for meningitis (before we know what it is)?
A
Broad-spectrum antibiotics + vancomycin (this will penetrate the damaged BBB)

Prophylaxis for Neisseria meningitidis?
A
Rifampin (ceph III, high dose cipro also used)
Vaccines also exist.

3rd generation cephalosporin OR ciprofloxacin OR not at all
