Define “government” and explain its role.
A ruling body that runs the affairs of the country, province, city, town, or district.

What are the four types of government we have in Canada?
- Constitutional monarchy
- Party system
- Federal system
- Representative democracy
What is constitutional monarchy?
Means that Canada follows the British political tradition and Canada recognizes the monarch as the head of state.
What is Party system?
Means that people we vote belong to a political party that have common beliefs, ideas and plans about the best way to govern.
What is Federal system?
Is a type of government that has been given the most powerful role in our country.
What is Representative democracy?
Means that people govern the nation by voting for people who will act on their belief in the government.
What are the duties of the Governor General?
.Official head of the military .Briefs the Queen .Meets people .Gives his/her royal assent .Official ambassador .Consults the Prime Minister
Who holds the most power in Canada?
The person who holds the most power in Canada is the Governor General. He is appointed by the monarch by the recommendation of the Prime minister. A Governor General’s term lasts for 5 years. Governor General’s rarely use their power. It is one of the things that ties us with Great Britain.
Does the Queen rule Canada? Explain.
Technically, on paper she has a lot of power since it’s part of the Constitutional monarchy but she chooses not to exercise her power. She’s merely a symbol. People who exercise their power are the Prime minister, and elected representatives.
