goldstien evaluation Flashcards
Generalisability
W - 90 PPTs and only 32 were women so this could be seen as lowering the generalisability of the study as it is not representative of the female population
Reliability
S - the PPTs were diagnosed by two different researchers, this means high inter-rater reliability.
S - High in test retest reliability, this is because of the high level of standardised procedures that were in place in the study. Angermayer (1987) confirmed that the Premorbid functioning is important in predicting the severity of the disorder.
Application
W - could lead to social control of men with SZ as the severity of it is higher they may be fored into hospitalistion more than woman with SZ
Validity
Ethics
W - this could lead to social control if males are more likely to experience severe symptoms. this could cause more control over male patients due to the social sensitivity of SZ
