Crew neck
- a garment with a tight round neckline. It covers a collarbone and has no collar or is rimmed with an extra band of fabric. It is most commonly used in T-shirts and sweaters.

Mock neck
- a lower and looser version of a turtle neck. Clings to the neck smoothly and is used to achieve an appearance of the turtleneck with a fabric which would look badly unless sewn.

Turtle neck
- a high tight foldover collar. Gives you a preppy and neat look and serves as an alternative to a formal “shirt and tie” outfit.

Set-in sleeve
- a sleeve sewn to an armhole of the garment near the actual edge of the shoulder. Has a professional natural look and is often used in suits, coats and shirts.

Raglan sleeve
- a one-piece sleeve with a seam which goes from the underarm straight to the neckline. Does not have a shoulder seam. It has more casual look and is usually used for making sportswear, sweatshirts and jerseys. It often might be a different color than the rest of the garment’s body.

Dolman sleeve
- a sleeve which is wide at the top of the arm and is either narrowing towards the wrist or is cut widely. It is also cut one piece with a body of the garment.

Cardigan
- a knitted garment with an open fastened front. It usually has long sleeves.

Jewel neck
- a simple modest rounded neckline which covers a collarbone. It got its name due to its ability to really draw an eye to a piece of jewelry (a necklace or a brooch) located against the fabric of the garment. It is used in T-shirts, sweaters, dresses and bodysuits. It was popularized by Audrey Hepburn and Jacqueline Kennedy,

Cowl neck
- a high loose-fiited collar hanging in rounded folds. Takes its name from a hooded garment worn by monks. It is usually a part of the cold weather outfits and serves as a substitute to a scarf.

Boat neck
- a wide neckline which runs almost to the shoulder points revealing a collarbone. Got its name from sailor’s uniforms. It is usually used in nautical style sweaters and knitwear, as well as in cocktail and evening dresses.
