Q

What did Giddens, Dunier and Applebaun say about globalisation ?

A
  • If human history was a 24 hour day, not much would happen in the first 23 hours
  • More change in society would happen in the last 30 seconds
  • This shows that globalisation has accelerated the speed that change is happening

Q

Problems with defining globalisation:

A
  • There are some positive opinions about the effect of globalisation but there are also negative ones.
  • This means that attempting to define globalisation is difficult because a lot of the views contain bias
  • For example, Cochrane and Pain believe that globalisation is happening at the same rate everywhere
  • Whereas Giddens only looks into a specific area of increased interconnections
