The authoritarian regime creates a closed society unable to contact other countries. Multiple sanctions restrict access to trade
How do physical and environmental factors affect North Korea’s engagement to globalisation?
Located on a peninsula there is limited access to international trade markets. Mountainous terrain makes agriculture difficult. Experiences frequent droughts and food shortages, lack modern farming techniques.

State controlled economy means heavy spending on military. limited trade volume. 90% of trade is with china. Failure to disclose information meant they are excluded from AIIB (asian infrastructure investment bank).

Under French colonial rule in the 1900s, education neglected. By late 1950s only 4% of all children had been to school. Reliant on France even after independence

The indigenous canadians take issue with industrial developments in their territory.
What issue do the indigenous canadians have with the Trans Mountain pipeline?
Pipeline goes through the heartland of indigenous territory. Bitumen spills are dangerous to the environment, difficult to remove and contaminate resources.
Give an example of tensions caused over water conflicts
Trans boundary water conflicts occur over the Mekong River
Why are there tensions over the Mekong river?
Man made construction of dams interrupt the natural flow of water, starving the river of water, fish and nutrients downstream
How many hydroelectric damns did China build on the Mekong River and how did this impact Vietnam?
7 damns were built by china and this impacted the fish population downstream. 60% less catch in Vietnam.
