O’Neil: - ethics of ph neglected

  • need to look beyond clinical context and boundaries of states and hc systems
  • autonomous patient not possible in clinical practice, many measure have to be compulsory to be effective
  • John Rawls: locus of justice isn’t the state, it’s the bounded society
  • Fail to see that boundaries are porous, health problems travel across boders
  • Need to engage as much with political philosophy as we do with medical ethics - need to enforce public health policies
