Describe current global cancer patterns
A
- Incidence, not adjusting for age, higher in HIC
- Major reason for the above is the age distribution of the population skewed toward older ages (most cancers are more common in older ages)
- Incidence, adjusting for age is higher in many LMIC than HIC due to infectious diseases in rural areas and risk factors for chronic diseases in urban areas

Why does having menstrual cycles increase your risk for reproductive tract cancers?
A
- During the menstrual cycle there are large swings in levels of estrogen, progesterone, FSH and LH in people menstruate
- These wings stimulate growth of different kinds of cells, and can promote emergence and growth of precancerous and cancerous cells in the hormone-sensitive cells in breast, ovary, uterus, vagins
