Glands/ membranes Flashcards
What is the difference between Exocrine and Endocrine glands
Exocrine- Secrete into ducts Endocrine- Secrete into extracellular spaces
What are the 4 types of membranes?
Mcuous, serous, synovial- connective, and cutaneous
Location and function of Mucous membranes?
LInes body cavities that open directly to the exterior. Line the gastrointestinal, respirator, urinary, and reproductive tracts. Prevents cavities from drying out, traps particles in respiratory passageways, lubricates food for digestive tracts, moves urine, and moves sex cells
Location and function of serous membranes
Lines body cavities that don’t open to exterior. Covers organs found within those closed body cavities. Two parts include parietal- directly attached to the cavity wall and visceral Directly attached to organs
Location and function of Cutaneous membranes
Skin, provides protection against UV light, micro organisms, and water loss
