What is Irritable Bowel Syndrome
A
○ Chronic, relapsing abdominal pain, bloating and changes in bowel habits
○ Gross and microscopic changes are minimaal and hence must be diagnosed on clinical symptoms

What are the two types of Inflammatory Bowel Disorders
A
Chron’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis

What is the distribution of Chron’s Diease
A
Can occur through any region of the GIT, intermitantly and doesn’t have to becontinuous and inflammation through the mucosa and submucosa

What is the distribution of ulcerative colitis
A
Typically occurs the colon in a continuous fashion and is a transmural inflammation of the gut wall

What is the ditribution of Coeliac’s Disease
A
- Is typically seen in the last proportion of the Duodenum and the proximal jejunum where the highest concentration of food is located
- Histologically the affected areas have villous atrophy, cyrpt hyperplasia and intraepithelial infiltration
