What kind of drug is infliximab and what does it do?

A

It’s an immune modulator. It neutralizes and prevents the activity of tumor necrosis factor alpha, which means it is anti-inflammatory and anti-proliferative. Used for Crohn’s.

What are some side effects of infliximab?

A

Increased risk for cancer, fatigue, headache, upper respiratory tract infections, abdominal pain, N/V, Infections.

Monitor for signs + symptoms of infections, watch for Crohn’s/UC Symptoms.
