Q

What biomarkers could be useful to differentiate between chronic gastritis and gastric carcinoma in dogs?
(Seim-Wikse, JAVMA; 2021)

A

> 8 years, BCS <4, elevated CRP > 25 mg/L, decreased folate

Q

What were factors associated with shorter PFI in dogs with GIST treated with Palladia?
What was the PFI in gross disease and in microscopic?
(Berger, VCO, 2018)

A

high MI and metastatic disease

110 weeks and 67 weeks

Q

Which factors were associated with carcinoma compared with adenoma in cats with coloreactal cancer?

Q

Which are the preferred anatomic locations of GIST and LMS?
What was the MST and metastatic rate of the 2 tumors?
(Alcazar, VCO, 2021)

A

GIST: small intestine, cecum
LMS: stomach, small intestine

MST: 1266 vs 542
metastatic rate: 32.1% vs 15.4%

Q

Could cetuximab be potentially used in canine intestinal adenocarcinoma?
What would be the reason for that?
(Cho, Vet Pathol, 2021)

A

Due to EGFR overexpression in canine intestinal adenocarcinomas cetuximab could be potential therapeutic agent.
Furthermore EGFR, KRAS, BRAF did not show any mutation, which could make the therapy with cetuximab ineffective.

Q

What newly studied antigens could indicate a neoplastic transformation or progression in canine gastric carcinomas?
(Flores, VSO, 2020)

A

STn antigens were exoressed in gastric carscinomas, but not in normal mucosa-its a sign of abnormal glycolisation

Q

Has SRTB been described in exocrine pancreatic and HCC tumors?
How well was the treatment tolerated?
(Yang, JAVMA; Gaitan-Cobo, JAVMA, 2021)

A

In a cat exocrine pancreas was treated with SRBT + chemo at progression, the cat lived ca. 1,5 (years)
(also in Pinard et al. a dog with SRBT was described, but lost to follow-up)
HCC with incomplete surgery recievd SRBT- the dog was alive at least 10 m
-the procedures were tolerated well

Q

Do any factors previously described in humans (TNM) have an impact on survival of dogs with exocrine pancreas adenocarcinoma?
(Pinard, VCO, 2020)

A

Size, presence of metastatic disease and location did not have an impact on survival in dogs

Q

In dogs and cats wich type of ex. carcinoma is more prevalent and could serve as a model in humans?
(Pinard, VCO, 2020)

A

The acinar type is more prevalent (its more rare in humans, there more ductal, mutations in the KRAS)
