can’t give Diphenoxylate (lomotil) or Bismuth (Pepto) in inflammatory diarrhea

if diarrhea is inflammatory or if they are prolonged diarrhea more than 2 weeks

A

Cipro = MC use fluoroquinolones (Cipro, levo)
Alt - Levaquin, Bactrim

Then change once culture comes back
