What is the origin of hepatitis?
Viral
Highly contagious, waterborne, fecal/oral, venereal, abrupt onset
Hepatitis A
Perinatal, blood, skin, general, gradual onset
Hepatitis B or C
Vaccines can prevent which types of Hepatitis?
A and B but not C
Manifesations of hepatitis?
fever, nausea/ vomiting, jaundice, abdominal pain, fatigue, anorexia
What is the recovery of hepatitis B?
There is no cure
What is the recovery for hepatitis C?
There is a cure
What is the recovery for hepatitis A?
Complete recovery after a few weeks.
Chronic progressive, irreversible, diffuse damage to the liver resulting in decreased liver function and liver failure.
Cirrhosis
What are the causes of cirrhosis?
Hepatitis and all factors that lead to hepatitis
What is the most common cause of cirrhosis in the US?
Chronic alcohol abuse and hepatitis C infection
Portal hypertension, ascites, jaundice, clotting issues, hyperlipidemia are manifesations of?
Cirrhosis
Fat accumulates in the liver cells

Who is nonalcoholic fatty liver disease seen in most?
Obese persons
