- Barricaded subjects;
- Hostage rescue;
- High-risk search warrant execution; and
- Sniper apprehension.
Chemical Agent Officer is a designation received by an officer who has received a minimum of ___ hours of training in the use of chemical agents and their delivery systems.

The decision to utilize chemical agents will be the responsibility of the S.W.A.T. Commander in charge of the situation. Chemical agents will be used when:
a. All other options for resolving the situations are exhausted, short of lethal force. (Chemical agent should be the last option before use of deadly force); or
b. The use of chemical agents will provide a margin of safety for police or civilian personnel in the area of the situation; or
c. The use of chemical agents is the most valid option for resolving the situation with the greatest safety for all persons involved.
If a person has been contaminated with the chemical agent and refuses treatment, the officer will document this refusal in:
his regular incident report and in the Subject Resistance Report.
For CNT, the exchange of hostages or weapons, release of jail or prison inmates and allowing the suspect to go mobile are:
not authorized and shall not be negotiable points.
The following is a basic outline used for the utilization of the S.W.A.T. Team in the serving of a search / arrest warrant:
- Unusual circumstances beyond capability of normal warrant service.
- A heavily fortified location.
- Violence toward law enforcement officers.
- Automatic weapons.
- Known gang members.
- The propensity for violence exists.
The purpose of the S.W.A.T. Team in the serving of the search/arrest warrant is to ___. Its purpose is not to save ___.

- The individual poses potential danger to himself/herself or others; AND
- The individual has made a credible threat of violence against another person.

The Body worn camera may only be deactivated once the interaction or incident is completed, or when the officer can articulate a valid reason to stop recording. The deactivation of a Body Worn Camera prior to the conclusion of an interaction, will be:
documented on the video and in the report.
The following circumstances may be considered when making a decision to terminate a recording:
- When doing so would be detrimental to other agency priorities such as interviewing victims of sex crimes, confidential informants witnesses and other who refuse to talk unless the camera is turned off;
- facilitating intelligence gathering;
- to protect tactical or confidential discussions or briefings;
- when directed by a supervisor and not in direct violation of this policy;
- when used in an event that has an extended non-citizen contact, i.e. perimeter and/or standing by on a prolonged event, i.e. a medical clearance, the officer will use discretion on whether to operate or not operate the Body Worn Camera.
Once activated, the Body Worn Camera may be muted, with the video still running, during times when:
Officers and or supervisors are discussing strategic information about an investigation and the citizen, defendant, or complainant is not immediately present or engaged in the conversation.
