Risk factors for gestational diabetes?

A
  • Maternal obesity
  • Maternal age over 25
  • Previous delivery of baby larger than 9 lbs
  • history of unexplained perinatal loss or malformation
  • Family history of diabetes especially first degree relatives
  • Glycosuria at first pre-natal visit
  • other settings that can be linked w/ DM (metabolic syndrome)
  • PCOS
  • Hypertension
  • Glucocorticoid use at time of pregnancy - maybe for asthma!
  • Ethnic groups w/ high prevalence of T2DM (Hispanic, AA, NA, South or East Asian, Pacific Islander)
