Geoprocessing Flashcards
Geoprocessing
A GIS operation used to manipulate data from an input dataset and return the result as an output dataset
Merge Feature Classes
Combines multiple input datasets into a single, new output dataset. Can combine point, line, or polygon feature classes or tables.
Dissolve
Features with the same value combinations for the specified fields will be aggregated into a single feature
Append Tool
Appends features to an existing hosted feature layer
Clip
Extracts input features that overlay the clip features
Polygon Overlay
Overlays the geometries from multiple layers into a single layer. Overlay can be used to combine, erase, modify, or update spatial features
Buffer
Creates buffer polygons around input features to a specified distances
Multipart Feature
A digital representation of a place or thing that has more than one part but is defined as one feature because it references on set of attributes
Buffer
A tool that creates buffer polygons around input features to a specified distance
Polygon Overlay
Overlays the geometries from multiple layers into a single layer. Can be used to combine, erase, modify, or update spatial features
Intersect
A geometric integration of spatial datasets that preserves features or portions of features that fall within areas common to all input datasets
Union
A topological overlay of two or more polygon spatial datasets that preserves the features that fall within the spatial extent of either input dataset
Identity
A topological overlay that computes the geometric intersection of two datasets
Erase
A command that removes features from one coverage that overlap features in another coverage
Symmetric Difference
Commutes a geometric intersection of the input and update features, returning the input features and update features that do not overlap
