Geometry Test #8 Flashcards
Pythagorean Theorem
In a right triangle, the square of the hypotnuese is equal to the squares of the legs.
a^2+b^2=c^2
Converse of the Pythagorean Theorem
If the square of one side of a triangle is equal to the sum of the other squares of the other two sides, the triangle is a right triangle.
Right Triangle
c^2=a^2+b^2
Acute Triangle
c^2<a^2+b^2
Obtuse Triangle
c^2>a^2+b^2

Triangle Proportionality Thm.
If a segment intersection is parallel to one side of a triangle and intersects the other two sides, then it divides those sides proportionally.
Interior Angle Bisector Thm.
If a segment/ray bisects an interior angle of a triangle, then it divides the opposite side into segments proportional to the other two sides.
