Delta
A triangular tract of sediment deposited at the mouth of the river
Fjord
A long narrow arm of the sea bordered by steep cliffs
Plateauas
An area of relatively high level ground.
Estuary
The tidal mouth of the river, where the tide meets the stream
Glacier
A slowly moving mass or river of ice formed from snowfalling and accumulating over the years
Archipelago
A large group or chain of islands
Equator
Divides Earth into North and South hemispheres.
Mesa
An isolated flat-topped hill with steep sides
Isthmus
A narrow strip of land with sea on either side, forming a link between two larger areas of land
Tundra
Vast, nearly level, treeless Arctic region where the subsoil is permanently frozen.
Latitude
Angular distance north or south from the equator of a point on the earth’s surface
Topography
The arrangement of the natural and artificial physical features of an area
Aquifer
A body of permeable rock that can contain or transmit groundwater
Longitude
Angular distance east or west on the earth’s surface
Tributary
A river or stream flowing into a larger river or lake
