Name 2 ways in which TNC’s have changed the economy of the UK
- Loss of jobs in other sectors because other countries off-shore produce
- Growth of London as a financial centre - so more foreign banks established here
- Increase in jobs because of inward investment
What’s inward investment?
Investment in a country made by investors outside that country.
Why is calculating the median for a set of data better than using the mean?
The mean can be distorted by extreme values so it doesn’t fairly represent the rest of the data
Why have some parts of London experienced decline?
- Deindustrialisation → loss of jobs → reduction in incomes → tax income reduces → local services suffer
- Lack of government investments → has reduced spending on services (education and health) → leading to out migration
2 ways international migration has changed the population geography
- Increased unevenly because some places will have more job oppurtunities for migrants
- Age structure will have changed by becoming younger as migrants are seeking for work

Reasons why there are constransting levels of inequality in different parts of the city
- Secondary industry decline - loss of jobs means no income
- Lack of government investment causes an inequality in education/health services
- In-migration of rich foreigners has increased incomes in parts of the city - whereas other areas of social housing have seen average incomes decline
