What is latitude?
An imaginary line over planet earth going horizontal. The equator is the major line of latitude.
What is longitude?
An imaginary line over planet earth going vertical. The prime meridian is the major line of longitude.
What are the Canadian time zones? (East to west).
Pacific, Mountain, Central, Eastern, Atlantic, and Newfound land.
Step 1 of spatial significance?
Identify where on earth this place or event is occuring.
Step 2 spatial significance?
Identify what is occuring naturally at this location.
Step 3 spatial significance?
Identify important human activities at this location.
Step 4 spatial significance?
Explain why it is important to know what is going on there.
What are contour lines?
Lines on a topographic map to show elavation. If the lines are closer together, then the elavation is increasing rapidly. If farther apart, then the elavation is increasing slowly.
What is a large scale map?
Map showing smaller area with a lot of detail.
What is a small scale map?
map showing large area with little detail.
What are the types of maps?
road map, topographic map, and thematic map.
how do you calculate scale from cm to km?
multiply number of cm by 0.00001
how do you calculate scale from km to cm?
multiply number of km by 10000.
