- many people don’t want to live in cities as there is a better quality of life in rural areas

- in 2013, the makoko floating school was built to give poorest children in Lagos access to free education
SOCIAL BENEFITS - up to 100 students got free education
- was used for local community meetings and activities
ECONOMIC - improved local children’s job aspects
- provided jobs for teachers
ENVIRONMENTAL - school was built using locally sourced materials so construction didn’t harm the local environment and repairs would be easy

what are the challenges created by urban change in a uk city (9 marker)

- building on greenfield and brownfield sites reduce the amount of green space although may be cheaper,
- an increase in population, means there is a bad housing shortage in london, popluation is growing by 100,000 everyday yest only 20,000 new homes built
- higher crime rate, young people are exposed and likely to become involved
- pupils receive fewer gcse so harder to get better jobs and stable careers
- increased levels of pollution means poorer air quality as city expands can be caused by increase congestion
