Q

What are Rothery’s 4 groups that writing falls into?

A
  1. Observation = making observation & following with comment (I saw a tiger, it was big)
  2. Recount = **chronological **(rely on action verbs & temporal connectives), non-chronological (connectives based on casual relationship)
  3. Report = **factual & objective, not chronological **
  4. Narrative = story genre, orientation > complication > resolution > coda (moral), hardest to achieve due to complex pattern, may use “I” to give a creative perspective in the story, may use descriptive adjectives to create a semantic field, could draw pics to accompany text (learn that pictures & text can reflect relationships between sounds & symbols)
