General overview of the upper limb Flashcards
where does the subclavian go to and form
The subclavian extends from its origin to the lateral border of the first rib.
where does axillary artery go to and from
lateral border of the first rib to the lateral border of trees major
where does the brachial artery go to and from
lateral border of trees major to the curtail fossa which is 1cm below the elbow joint then it divides into the radial artery and ulnar artery
where do the radial and ulnar arteries runs
radial artery runs down the lateral side of the forearm and the ulnar runs down the medial side of the forearm
what do the radial and ulnar arteries form
These two arteries anastomose (join together) in the palm of the hand forming the superficial and deep palmar arches.
how does Venus drainage working the arm
All the blood of the upper limb will drain eventually into the axillary vein and then continue into the subclavian vein, then to the brachiocephalic vein and superior vena cava.
describe deep veins
- lie inside the fascia
- 2 for each artery
- same name as the arteries
- 2 veins for one arteries
what are the superficial veins
asilic vein (medially) and the Cephalic vein (laterally
what is the small communicating vein that connects the basilica and cephalic vein
Median cubital vein which connects the basilic with the cephalic veins
what vein is used for venipuncture
median cubital vein
how are deep veins and superficial veins connected to each other
The deep veins are connected to the superficial veins by perforating veins
Both sueprifical and deep veins contain…
valves
- more valves in deep veins
what are the 5 terminal branches of the brachial plexus
- most alcoholics must really urinate
- muscultanosu
- axillary
- median
- radial
- ulnar
describe the axillary nerve
(nerve to the deltoid and sensory to skin over the deltoid)
describe the msuculocutaneous nerve
(nerve for the muscle in the anterior arm (biceps) and sensory to
lateral side of arm and forearm)
