Horner syndrome

A

Typical signs:
Miosis: Decrease pupil size
Ptosis: Drooping eyelid
Anhidrosis: Decrease sweating on affected side of face

Causes due to damage/interruption to sympathetic fibers
- first order neurons/central causes
- second order neurons
- thirds order neurons (in close proximity to ICA)

Second order causes to know:
Malignancies of lung apex (Pancoast tumour)
Cervical rib fracture
Lesions/aneurysm of subclavian artery
Brachial plexus trauma
Iatrogenic (surgery or radiotherapy in neck/upper mediastinum)
