What is a Packet Sniffer?
Packet sniffers are applications or utilities that read data packets traversing the network within the Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) layer.
What’s a DOS attack?
Denial of service attack.
An attack that targets a network or server and floods it with network traffic.
What is a DNS server and what does it do?
Turns domain names into IP addresses, which allow browsers to get to websites and other internet resources
What are the 3 parts of a data packet and what do they do?
Header - Body - Footer
Header - MAC and IP adress
Body - Data
Footer - Inform the recieving device that it has reached the end of the packet
What would you call the process of examining network logs to identify events of interest?
Network Log Analysis
What is an application that collects and analyzes log data to monitor critical activites in an organization?
A SIEM Tool
