Fire Main Valve - outside dry stores

Local - SORS Machinery Room, center of forward bulkhead

Remote - STBD Pway of SORS cargo, aft bulkhead on wall just inside door (red handle).

35
Q

What three installed drainage systems allow the boat to dewater spaces?

A
  1. Main Drainage System
  2. Independent Drainage Systems
  3. Oily Water Collection System
36
Q

Does the oily water system use eductors?

A

No. It collects oily bilge water in a tank for processing.

37
Q

How eductors work? What should you never do when operating eductors?

A
  • Fire main provides water flow through the eductor creating a low pressure vacuum effect. This draws the surrounding water out through the eductor into the overboard discharge piping system.
  • Never operate in a closed space with personnel inside because the negative pressure could possibly over power their lungs causing asphyxiation.
38
Q

What spaces does main drainage provide dewatering services for?

A

MMR Bilge
AMR Bilge
Dewater Ballast Tank

39
Q

A

Stern Thruster

42
Q

What are the proper steps to operating the drainage system?

A
  1. Turn on fire pump
  2. Open the overboard discharge
  3. Open the fire main supply valve to the eductor.
  4. Open the suction valves to the space to be dewatered.
43
Q

What is the AFFF system made up of?

A
  • 2 Fixed Stations
