2 - Energise the DCP (DKS in legacy fleet) and open the panel
3 - Two minutes before the dispatcher presses the TRTS button to obtain a proceed aspect and/or route indicating
4 - 30 seconds before departure dispatcher gives STATION WORK COMPLETE signal
5 - Acknowledge the dispatcher by raising one arm above your head (ONLY if you have proceed signal and it is SAFE to do so). Then CLOSE your doors but leave the local door open.
6 - Step back onto platform, check doors have nothing trapped, are fully closed and hazard lights are all OFF
7 - You and the dispatcher check that there is still a proceed signal and then carry out the TRAIN SAFETY CHECK
8 - 10 seconds before departure the dispatcher gives TRAIN SAFETY CHECK COMPLETE signal
9 - Check you still have a proceed aspect and then acknowledge the dispatcher (one arm above head)
10 - Step onto the train and close local door
11 - Give the driver 2 buzz signal to leave - wait for driver to repeat back.
12 - Stay by your local door to check for any unsafe activity. If you see anything unsafe give the driver 1 buzz (or use PASSCOM) to STOP the train
13 - De-energise the DCP/DKS and secure the panel

Ensure doors closed and nothing/nobody is trapped in them 7 - Carry out the train safety check 8 - Recheck there is still a proceed signal 9 - 10 seconds before departure, close local door and give ready to start signal 10 - The driver repeats back the ready to start signal 11 - Stay by local door observing platform for any unsafe activity 12 - If you see unsafe activity send STOP signal to driver or use PASSCOM to apply emergency break

38
What does Limit of Shunt mean?
No part of your train should pass a 'Limit of Shunt' board unless you are authorised by the signaller If a shunt limit is passed without authority it is considered a SPAD.
39
Draw a SPAD indicator and explain your actions when you saw it activated?
3 vertical red lights with a blue background Will not be lit unless a SPAD has been performed - the top and bottom aspects will flash and the middle light will remain steady If you see a SPAD indicator illuminated, you must stop the train immediately and contact the signaller as quickly as possible. You must carry out this instruction even if the indicator applies to a signal on another line.
