Magazines emphasised the importance of getting married and being left on the shelf

How have changes in the family affects women?
Change in girls attitude towards education
Create new adult role model for girls, the financially independent women
To achieve independence women need well paid jobs and therefore good qualifications in education
How can an increase in divorce rates effect women’s education?
May suggest to girls that it is unwise to rely on a husband to provide for the family and therefore encourages them to look to themselves to make a living.

Proportion of women in employment has risen from 53% -1971 to 67% - 2013

The invisible barrier that keeps women put of high-level professional and managerial jobs
