Gear Tyres Brakes and Wheels Flashcards
The auto-brake system is disconnected during landing:
By pilot action
If the profile grooves or the tread of a new aircraft tyre are worn, the tyre can be:
Repaired several times.
The type of system where accomplishes steering by use of the rudder pedals?
Direct Rod Linkage
To prevent tubeless tyres from blowing out from excessive pressure built op due to the generated heat fr0m taxiing and braking -
thermal fuse plugs are used
The shoulder is the first area of the tyre -
after the crown
Advantages of tubeless tyres:
- saving in both _____ and ___ of tubes
- No ____ generation from friction between ___ and ___
- Reduced _______ from punctures. Unlike the tube in a tubed tyre the lining of a tubeless tyre is not stretched and to a degree will form a seal around the puncturing object
- Tyre creep is of ___ significance
- saving in both weight and cost of tubes
- No heat generation from friction between tyre and tube
- Reduced deflation from punctures. Unlike the tube in. a tubed tyre the lining of a tubeless tyre is not stretched and to a degree will form a seal around the puncturing object
- Tyre creep is of less significance
Which anti-skid type:
This anti-skid is mounted on the torque plate of the brake unit within the axle bore. It comprises a valve assembly connected to a flywheel driven by the aircraft wheel. The flywheel rotates at the same speed as the wheel during braking when no skid is present. A rapid decrease in wheel rotation, such as would occur just prior to a skid, results in the inertia of the flywheel opening a valve in hydraulic pressure line. This reduction in pressure corresponds to a decrease in braking force.
Mechanical Anti-skid system
Which anti-skid type:
This system comprises skid control generators, a skid control box and skid control valves
Electronic anti-skid unit.
The autobrakes comes into operation when -
gear up is selected
The term autobrakes is also applied to systems in which brakes are applied -
immediately after touchdown, or during RTO(rejected take-off)
When a landing gear wheel is hydroplaning, its friction factor is equal to:
0
Another name for torque links?
Scissor links
