Acute glomerulonephritis
Occur 2-3weeks
Caused by autoimmune disease, group A B-hemolytic streptococcal infections or skin infections, Hx of tonsillitis 2/3weeks before symptoms .
S/s: fever, chills, azotemia, hematuria(brown cloudy urine), edema more prominent in morning, lethargy, confusion, decrease LOC, pallor, irritability, abdominal or flank pain and dysuria.
Gallbladder diet
LOW IN FAT
High in carbohydrates and high in proteins
Abdominal gas pain
Indications of peristalsis: ambulated patients to facilitate expulsion of flatus
Acute appendicitis S/S
Pain usually comes prior to nausea or vomiting
Gastroenteritis
Nausea and vomiting comes before abdominal pain
Gastric cancer
S/S : early symptoms: abdominal discomfort, feeling of fullness, epigastric pain. Poor appetite followed by n/v, anemia which can lead to fatigue
Appearance of a yellow cast ( indicate jaundice Which indicate or signal metastatic disease)
Ideal for weight for overweight
0.5 to 1pound a week
Acute Diarrhea
Do not eat BRAT diet( bananas, rice, apples, and tea) it low i. Protein and energy
Protein rich food (MOST diet)
Tofu, beans, nuts, and seeds , oatmeal, peanut and milk
Ulcerative colitis
Patients are on a low residue diet, no beans unless seedless (can), no legumes, no strawberry, no creamy soup, coffee, tea, diary, broccoli. They are on a BRAT diet ( beans ( seedless), rice, apple, and toast.
Psyllium hydrophilic mucilloid (Metamucil).( bulk forming laxative)
bulk-forming laxative, the category of laxative that is usually seen as the safest, even when taken on a routine basis; works by increasing water absorption or retention within the stool, increasing bulk and stimulating peristalsis.
Do not create too much dependency.
Docusate sodium (Colace).
possible problems with regular use could include laxative dependency, bowel damage, electrolyte imbalance; Colace is an emollient laxative of the fecal-softener type
Left lower abdominal pain
Diverticulitis
